I’m back! I’m back on the Hill and it feels like I never left. Unlike the first semester where I was just trying to get a feel for Holy Cross and Worcester, I’m hitting the ground running this semester. And so far so good over here. I’m loving my new schedule, any time one has the ability to sleep past noon 5 of the 7 days of the week is always a plus. Not to mention my new music class, The History of Rock, is ridiculously cool! The other day we learned the Anatomy of a Rock Song and applied our lessons when we listened to “Enter Sandman”, a song that means a lot to me considering I’m a die hard Yankee fan.

Besides that, the biggest adjustment has probably been the weather. Not to say that Jersey is a desert with 80 degree weather, but man is it cold here! Sweaters, North Faces, and pea coats are all over the place now. The snow’s falling, the sky is white, and I love it. Not so sure how my neighbors from California are liking it, but I’m sure they’ll manage.

Also, my dorm has some pretty great events coming up! We’ve got a Super Bowl party this Sunday (Go Niners) and then we’re planning a Call of Duty tourney soon! Not quite speed dating with other floors like earlier in the year, but we’ll see what happens.

By the way, Congratulations to everyone that has been accepted to Holy Cross Early Decision, and a shout out to the guys at St. Peter’s Prep who recently got the acceptance. You’re all going to love it here, just as I am.

Deuces all.

By the way, I’m joining Team Smartphone soon….so pictures will be posted soon!

Hola from New Jersey all! Break has been such a great time here at home. I’ve really missed my twin brother, Joe, being able to look at NYC, and most of my friends from other schools. But as fantastic as this has been, I’m just about ready to get back on the academic grind. I’m here getting ready to get back up on the Hill for next week. I can’t even believe that it’s the second semester already. It seems like I just met everyone and slept in the dorms for the first time last week.

After having plenty of time over break to catch up on sleep, meet up with friends from home, and get ready for new classes, I am beyond ready and excited to get back. It’s weird….I constantly find myself saying that I’m going “home” next week (Sorry, Mom and Dad). But Holy Cross and Worcester itself really have become my home in one semester. I can’t wait for all of the challenges, classes, new friends, and experiences that I’m bound to have over the next few months. By the way, guys, one of my classes is The History of Rock, I’ll make sure I let you all know how great that ends up being.

Well, next time you’ll be hearing from me I’ll be back in Worcester…where I belong. Deuces

Midterms, Speakers, Hurricane Sandy, and the Presidential election. Needless to say it’s been a pretty turbulent couple of weeks up here on the Hill, and things are finally slowing down!

First of all, I hope that whoever is reading this is hasn’t suffered much from the affects of Hurricane Sandy. Being from New Jersey, it’s extremely difficult not being able to be home and help out the local communities with storm relief, but everything seems to be progressing as well as it can. However, campus rejoiced when word got out that we had two full days off! This just meant time for rest and relaxation, the three favorite words of any college student.

Besides that, last night was the election (finally). It was really awesome getting to vote for the first time, and the energy on campus was infectious. In my dorm hall alone, dozens of people were glued to CNN and ABC, anxiously awaiting the results. When word got out that Obama was staying, there were some mixed reactions. From celebrations to the tune of “My President is Black” to looks of dejection, it was obvious which side everyone was really on.

Well, we’re in the final stretch before Thanksgiving Break! Can’t believe time is moving so fast. Updates to come. Deuces all.

Hello all! My name’s Connor O’Brien and I’m a Freshman here at Holy Cross. I’m a small town kid from northern New Jersey looking to make a big difference in the Worcester community. I’m going to be blogging all year long about what’s happening here on the Hill, both in and out of the classroom! I really hope that what I write will give you all a great idea of life at Holy Cross, and how great it is to be a student here!

Anyways, so far so good here at college. Holy Cross is exactly what I expected. The people are great, the classes are challenging and interesting, and the social life is awesome. So many exciting events have already happened, such as Fr. Boroughs’ inauguration a few weeks ago…which I unfortunately couldn’t attend, but the energy around campus was incredible. To see alumni from all over the country come for this event was really special and made me feel like I was a part of something great here at Holy Cross.

Now that Fall Break has ended and we’re back in school, time to get back to business. I’m going to be a little busy for the next week getting ready for Midterms, but that shouldn’t be too bad. I can’t wait for an info session on the Spring Break Immersion Trip this Thursday (Fingers Crossed I can go to New Orleans). Not to mention our dorm floor is speed dating an all girls floor next week! So that should be nothing short of absolutely hilarious.

Really looking forward to blogging to you all this year! Deuces.
